SECOND HOSPITAL SHIP
THE MARAMA IN PORT. The second New Zealand Hospital Ship,"the Marama, arrived from Port Chalmers yesterday, at 12.30 p.m. Uhe ship is now a thoroughly well-equipped floating hospital, with a capacity ,of 600 beds. _ Immediately, oil arrival loading operations were commcnced, and wifl be carried on without interruption until the ship sails. Practically all the stores are being put.on board in' Wellington. If any people should .wish to make presents to the ship' for the comfort' or entertainment of the porsonnel, thfiy are invited to send gramaphones, records, music, quoits, or other de-ck games, apples, or other fruits. Such parcels as may,be, so sent should be, addressed "Hospital- Ship Mairimaj'Caro • Captain Bilton, K Shed, 'Wellington' Wharf," and advice should be sent by the donors simultaneously to the quartermaster.ef the ship, .Two pianos have already been donated by the Victoria Bowling Club, and. a; gramaphone and records by Mr. T. Mantel, ofj Queonstown. Also, on the last voyage of the Marama from San Francisco, the passengers and-crew subscribed a sum of £32 10s., with which, a-microscopo has been purchased for uso in the bacteriological laboratory on board.
