A NURSES MEMORIAL
SUGGESTIONS AND A SUBSCEIP- . TION. . In connection with the suggestion in yesterday'sl Dominion in regard to a memorial to the nurses who were lost in the torpedoed Marquette, the following letter has been received, accompanied by subscription for five shillings:—"l fead with much interest today's article on nurses, and I am in' great sympathy with your suggestion that New Zealand women should show their of those sisters \vho> go out on active service.. In Australia, I believe that a memorial to .the late Nurse Cavell is being raised, in the sliapo of a fund which will bo used to assist •returned military nurses. May I suggest that you, ono of the women workers of New Zealand, shall take a lead in the matter? Suppose you call together a committee of unmarried women, and organise a national shilling subscription fund. It would be splendid if the unmarried women, the girls, and the girl children of New Zealand could raise such a fund for the benefit of nurses. _ I shall be glad to assist you in organising such a scheme, and I encloso a small subscription from my children as a token of my sincerity."—A.M.L.H.
