BIG INCREASE IN MARRIAGES,
The notable' featuro about the vital statistics for November is .the very substantial increase in the number of marriages ■ recorded in Wellington. The Deputy Registrar of Births, Deaths, and Marriages (Mr. J. Palethorpe) states that up to the date tho National Registration papers had to be in (November 10) there was a decided rush to the hymeneal altar, without much regard either for wedding bells or orange blossoms, but since the Register closed the marriage market has been slack. Still there liave been recorded 141 marriages in November compared with 88 for the corresponding month of last year. The figures aro as under: —
