THE CHURCH ARMY
AN ANONYMOUS DONATION. (To the Editor.) Sir,—l thank you for publishing an account of the philanthropic "work the .Church Army has been doing among the poor and distressed since tho year 1881. From a very small beginning its usefulness has extended, as evidenced by the amount of its annual income, which exceeds £250,000 a year, nearly all subscriptions, of which £20,000 is in ponnies, showing that , the poor are ever ready to help the poor. By reason of your publication. I have received a handsome donation from an anonymous donor for the Christmas dinners to the poor, and Belgian refugees. The clue I have to guide mo is that tiie letter was' registered at Te Aro. Permit me to thank the lady through your columns, and to say that although she has acted on the Divine injunction of not letting one hand know what the other does, and is therefore unknown to me, yet I am sure the name and act is known to the Almighty Father "Who seeth in Secret," and Who notices the motive which prompts such actionsj even though as small as cups, of cold water.—l am, etc., F. W.. WHIJBLEY. 1 Hon. Sec. Church Association, N.Z. The Vicarage, Weber.
