MASTERTON NOTES
Mr. H. A. Novins, Wairarapa representative of the Sheep Owners' Association, has written Air. M. Laracy,. secretary of the Shearers' Association, ■ demanding the names of the Wairarapa sheep-owners who have made deductions of pay from the shearers of S?s. Cd. per hundred, in aid of the patriotic funds, and. who liavo placed the contributions ill their own.names, instead of the shearers. Mr. Nevins has offered to publish the names of such owners, , should they be supplied. So far Mr. Laracy has not replied. In tho event of the names not being furnished, Mr. Nevfins intends d/emaiicliing iha-t Sir. Laracy shall unreservedly withdraw the imputation that has been cast agamst the farmers of tho Wairarapa. 1 Tho rainfall registered at Solway, Masterton, during tho month of November, was 4.16 inches, compared with 1.87 inches in the samo month last year. Tho rainfall for tho first eleven months of the year is still over ten i inches short of the average. The vital statistics- of Masterton for the montli of November were as follow: —Births 16, deaths 8, marriages 6. The Masterton Borough Council has j decided to take over the cemetery from j the Cemetery Trustees, at the request S of the latter body.
