Messages from the Dardanelles Headquarters state tliat Lord Kitchener visited Mudros, Helles, and Anzao, and had a conference with General Sir Charles Monro. Lord Kitchener was delighted with his welcome at Anzao, and in response to the men's greeting delivered a message from the King. Accompanied by General Sir W. Birdwood, he strode up tho steepest paths along t'he firing-line of the Anzac position, frequently speaking to the men ill the trenches. He met tho Australian and New Zealand/divisional commanders, the brigadiers, and all tho important officers, and thoroughly studied the situation. His visit will be an inspiration to the Australians and New Zealanders. RISKY TOUR OF THE TRENCHES. Sydney, December 1. Captain Bean, official correspondent with the Australian , Forces, cabling from.Gaba Tepe, says that Lord Kitchener had a great welcome at Anzac. Only a few senior officers knew he was coming, but tho men recognised him as he stepped ashore, and tumbled out of their dug-outs to spontaneously olieer him again and again. • Lord Kitchener went through the first line of trenches, in places only twenty yards from the Turks. There were anxious /momenta as he rounded certain corners which were visible to Turkish snipers. Hfe left afte a two hours' thorough look over the position. Ho had a long conference with M. the Prime Minister. . « BACK IN LONDON' London, November 30. Official: Lord Kitchener has reached London. He told the men at Anzao and the Dardanelles how much tho King -Appreciated' their splendid services. They had done even better than, the King had expected.
