PUBLIC SCHOOLS" TOURNEY

GIRLS' EVENTS

The girls' events in oonuection with tho Wellington Public Schools' Lawn Tennis Association's annual tournament commenced' at Brougham Street on Saturday morning. Owing to the delay caused by the unfavourable weather anil tlio poor response, to tho appeal for umpires, the games played numbored about twenty less than on the opening day last year. As these games will have to bo pulled up next Saturday, it. is hoped that thoso ablo to assist with tho umpiiv ing will roll up at Brougham Hill*. Tlie tournament .will be continued next Saturday, when all primary boys and girls will assemble at Brougham Hill, and all secondary competitors at Palmer Street at 8.30 a.m. Mills and Co. havo donated two champion rackets as trophies.
