FROM SYDNEY DIRECT. ' From Sydney direct the Manuka arrived in port at 6.30 p.m. yesterday, and. subsequently berthed at the Qucen'a Wharf Kc. 1 north. She experienced moderate seas and winds throughout the run across. Before leaving far Lyttelton today the Manuka will land the following cargo:—ll92 hags salt, 166 ease? dessicated cocoanut, 50 boxes sulphur, 453 packages tea, 95 rolls netting, 391b. hair, 80 cased champagne, 436 cases fruit, 40 bass cocoa, 542 cases wine, 850 boxes soap, 275 cases whisky, 100 boxes manure, 36 barrels of oil.

SAILING SIIII'S "SIGHTED. When the Manuka was a, day out from. Sydney to Wellington this trip, two sailing vessels were sighted. One was a,.fourmasted American schooner, and the other a three-masted barque. Although the calling vessels hoisted their number*, they were too faroff fij? the flags to be distinbuished.

FIREMEN DELAY WESTRALIA. From Friday till 1.30 a.m. on Sunday the Wostmlia. was delayed at Melbourne on account of troublt with her firemen. Consequently she is not due at Duncain till late on Thursday night or early on Friday morning. Her departure from tue southern port has been postponed till Satr urday, December 4, and she will here, in place of tho .Paloona, on ruesday, December 7, leaving the same day .for northern ports. The Paloona on arriva-l at Dunedin on Thursday next will withdraw for survey. She has been fixed to leave the southern port on December I for Bast Coast ports in place of the Tara-w-e ra. which latter vessel will lay up indefinitely.

On December 2 the New Zealand 'Shipping Company's Ruapehu will leave Port Chalmers 'or the Bluff. From the latter port she will como direct to Wellington, being due here on December 8. Four days later the Ruapehu will arrive at Auckland, and final departure will be taken from the latter port for London, via Monte Video, and Teneriffo, on December 15.

Due from southern ports to-day, . the Monowai—which is running one. day latewill land 419 tons of cargo before going on to northern ports. -

The Koromiko, which 1 ie on her way to Newcastle, will load there for Wellington.

The Ke.hlka is due'in port on Thursday from Greymouth with 170,000 feet of timber. Subseauently tho vessel ■will Yisit Gisborne. . .

It is anticipated that the Corinna will not arrive at Wellington from New Plymouth with dairy produce for transhipment to the Orari till 3 p.m. to-morrow. The vessel will be dispatched for New Plymouth and Dunedim on Thursday. As tho Paloona has been delayed at Napier she is not due here till' late this morning, or early this afternoon. About 460 tons'will be. put out before the vessel goes south. ■ An arrival at Auckland from London, via -way ports, early yesterday morning was the Shaw-Savlll Kia Ora. She is not due here till December 7.

Yesterday .it was reported that there was' very little water on the Pa'tea. Bar.. The. Kapuni and Aorere, which left here for thai, port on Sunday, aro. not due back till to-morrow. < t Heavy rain was responsible for delaying the nuddort Parker eteamer Wimmera at, the Bluff, and the vessel did htft leave there for. Hobart and Melbourne till 5.a.m on Saturday. Sho io expected to leave Melbourne on the return trip to New Zealand on Saturday, December 4, as usual.

The departure of the O. and D. liner Star of Scotland' from Wellington for London has been postponed till daybreak on Friday' next.

r'rom i Port Chalmers and Lyttelton th# Orari is due here either to-day or tomorrow. On Thursday next she will be disnatolled for Tokomaru Bay, Napier, and Si-'""'ne. A return visit will be paid to' Y. —.Irrion at an early date for final dispatch for London.
