During the week-end a race was flown, under the' auspices of the Hutt Valley Homing Pigeon Society, with the following result: — From Russell, estimated "air-line, 420 miles:—A. and J. Booth's "Old Roger," lOhr. 50inin. 14sec., velocity 1137.6' yards per minute, 1; England and Hudson's "Taringamutu," lOhr. 49min. 30sec., velocity 1137 yards per minute, 2; Whitehead and Booth's "Juno,' lllir. 2Smin. 50sec., velocity 1073 yards per minute, 3; E. M'Mahon's "Gipsy," lllir. 30min., velocity 1072 yards per minuto; W. and L. Booth's "Redwing," 13hr. 28min., velocity 915 yards per minute; C. D. and O. Abrahall's "Dominion," lohr., velocity 750 yards per minute.
