Tho first direct shipment of Fiji bananaa for some time past arrived by the Karamu on Thursday, in (for the best part) very good order indeed, but prices, when compared with those ruling lately, suffered 'considerably owing to the inoreased supply. Sydney consignments were very email _ this week, prices being accordingly high. Local fruits, such as plums, cherries, gooseberries,. apricots, strawberries, and tomatoes, are now in good supply. Vegetables aro in good supply. Old potatoes; are neglected, with the regular supply pf the now crop coming to hand. Prices are much easier. Onions arc unchanged. Fresh oggs are firm. Yesterday's approximate values were:—
