Offers of 3,076,0001b. of jam at reasonable i prices were immediately forthcoming, and the Agent-General at once got into communication with the Imperial authorities, to urge that they be accepted. ■Yesterday the Minister of Agriculture' received from him the following cablegram: "Tho War Office acccpts all the offers of jam; shipment to commence in December. Obtain as many further offers as possible. Anticipate I can obtain orders up. to 10,000,000.'-" The Minister immediately this communica-'] tion came to hand got into touch with the jam, manufacturers, and informed • ' them of their success. As a result it is thought there will be further tenders to supply Victorian jam "at once'"cabled to Groat Britain. Should the AgontGeneral be justified in his anticipations, there will bo a groat impetus not only to the jam manufacturing industry, but there will be also a much bigger' local market for Victorian-ttuit.], .
