WAR PENSIONS
THE SPECIAL SESSION PROPOSAL. A few more replies have been received by Mr. R. Fletdier, M.P., to his circular to members of Parliament suggesting the calling of a special session to amend the War Pensions Act. Ho has now received in all 14 replies. Of these seven have been favourable, two unfavourable, and the other five from ■Ministers have been non-committal. The Hon. W. D. S. Mac Donald has written-promising to give tho proposal consideration, which is in effect the reply given by tho other four Ministers who have acknowledged the circular. Mr, M'Combs _ and Mr. Veitch have written approving the suggestion and promising to support it. Mr. 6. Fqrbes writes to say that although he fears the Government is unsympathetio he cannot see his way to express an opinion about calling Parliament together. Mr. Okey replies that he thinks tho Government has ample powers to make the pensions scheme elastic enough to deal with special cases, and that he does not think a special session ie necessary. .
