The publisher of tho "Hawora and Nbrmiinby Star" was charged under the War Regulations Act with publishing matter calaulated to interfere with recruiting. In tlie course of correspondence on conscription a letter was • published to whioh the polioo objected, and demanded th§ namo of tho writer, and this not being 'disclosed, tile paper was proceeded against. The defendant expressed regret that certain passages in tho lettor had not been excised. • Tho Court did not regard tho cas» as ona for a heavy .penalty, and finei defendant £2.
