A Teoord shipment of butter will b» made from Auckland for London by tha steamer Rangatira this week. Space has been reserved for 60,000 boxes, the value of this shipment, on a basis of Is 3d. per lb. f.0.b., being £210,000. i j lery.I ery . . ge , S«a»tity of butter was , loaded at Auckland during the last week of November last year, but it represented the accumulation of four weeks while the Rangatira is takine only three weeks' output, and it was loaded by two steamers. The .total quantity was 65,842 boxes, of which tha Rakaia" took- 40,673 boxes, and the lonic 25,169 boxes. So far as the available records show, 60,000 boxes is ' tlie largest quantity ever lifted by one 6teamer at this port. The shipment by the'Rangatira-will be the fifth of the season. The first shipment this year was made by thd steamer Rotorua, and it sold in London at 160s. to 1645. per cwt. The next) was by the steamer Otaki, which took consignments of 20,815 boxes fromAuckland on September 29. This steamer reached London on November to, and according to advice from the High Commissioner the market was Men, clear of New Zealand butter. A report was received the other day by Messrs. A. S. Paterson from their London representatives, Messrs. J. J. LoW dale and C0.,-that the Otaki's butter fad met a strong market, and was sell- ' ing at 160s. to 1635. In marked con. wast-with this quotation are the fig. ures for the first ■ shipment of Auck- • land butter last season. It comprised Q n' T 5081 boxes, and sold at 1275. to 130s. The present quotation is equiva--lent to Is 3}d. per lb. f.o.b. at Auckland, which is id. "higher than the value placed upon the.butter at the time of its shipment. An increase of 47,676 boxes is alreadj shown in the volume of the exports W London, as compared with the corresponding portion of, last season.
