PATRIOTIC SPEECH BY GENERAL I SMUTS. By Telegraph—Press Association-Oopyrieht Gape Town, November 23. General Smuts, who will direct operations in East Africa, in a rousing speech, predicted that ho would obtain in a few days the necessary men for his East Africa contingent South Africa, he said, was not projected by distance, like Australia, and must remove the danger of a Greater Germany. The example of Britain, where millions of soldiers had come forward voluntarily, had made him proud of the British Empire.
