The committee of tho Associated 'Amateur Sports Bodies, met in No. 1 Committee Room of tho Town Hall last evening, M.r. C. G. Wilson presiding. Thore were present: Mo'ssrs.'M. Carr, A. A. Marryatt, R. K. Lyon, E. A. .Batt, A. 1). Bayfield, A. Paapc, G. S. Hill, H. M'lveown, B. Guise, J. Auld, D. Weir, Davis, B. Keesing, Wood, K. W. Shallcrass, and F. W. Levestani. ■

A letter was received from Taihape, stating that the, Gallipoh Day move,ment had been taken up there enthusiastically, and a. canvas of the town was to he made on Wednesday next. A lady wrote- offering a number of prize canaries and rabbits for raffling. A telegram was received from tho sports treasurer at Gisbomo (Mr.

Aiuir}, stating that a cheque for £100 was being forwarded to Wellington. Mr. Bolton, secretary at Dcnniston, felegrapned, stating a cheque for £21 13s. was being forwarded. Mr. Tlios. Waugh, of the Hutt, wrote, regretting the Wet weather on Sa/misky, and offering that, if, another effort was to Ix made' the committee could depend on him for another .thousand .roses. The offer waa .gratefully accepted. , - ' The Waterside Workers' Band offering its services for Saturday, November 2-7, if the committee decided to make a further effort on chat day. Mr. C. R: Smith, who was in Napier on Saturday, advised the chairman fliat a-s the result of a collection made among the wool-buyers and growers at, the sale held there that day, the sum of £60 10s. had been raised for the fund. . / ' The chairman said that the chief reason for the calling'of the meeting was tho wot weather experienced on Saturday, and he could not take the result as a reflex of the work that they had put

in on account of l Gallipoli Day. He would, however, like to pay a tribute ' to the magnificent work which had been , dono by the ladies on Saturday. The motion was seconded by Mr. R. ,W. Shallcrass... Mr. G. S. Hill spoke in of the motion Mr. Davis said that he thought that the committee should do the Cricket Association the courtesy of writing to them about the ground. It was,, reported' that Mesdames . Townsend and M'Yicar had offered their services for Saturday next. Mr.' Guiso . also_ said that lie knew several ladies who would only bo too happy to assist. The motion to hold the sports meeting on the Basin Reserve on Saturday . next, was unanimously carried. It was decided to extend the "Gallipoli Surprise Packet" scheme, and to increase the amount of money to be divided amongst purchasers of. the packets. / ; Mr. Shallcrass moved that a street collection, and a sale of .badges and flowers available shall bo made by "theladies, assisted by a committed of gentlemen. This 'was seconded by Mr. Guise and carried. T"ne committee appointed to direct tlie Gallipoli Surprise Packet scheme, and also to assist'tho ladies-selling "flowers iand badges is as follows: Messrs. Wilson, Robinon, Carr, Paape, Phelps, Inglis, and lleid.'

Messrs. Bat-t, Shallcrass, Jacobs, Bayfield, Keesing, and Wood will direct the sale of produce and sweets, assisted by' tho ladies. '

. It was reported that Jupp's, tile Wellington Watersiders', and tho Drum and Bugle Bands were prepared to assist. The hotel proprietors were thanked for supplying meals-for the lady helpers on Saturday last. Tho secretary (Mr. E.
