MOERAKI ARRIVES 2 P.M.

A. wireless message has been received from Captain Collins, of the Moeraki, stating that lie expected his vessel to ar-' aivo at Wellington from Sydney at. 2 p.m. to-day. The Moeraki will bertli at the Queeu's Wharf to land. 1078 tons of New Zealand cargo. MONOWAI DELAYED. Bad we.athei* on the E<ist Coast -has been responsible for delaying t-ho Union steamer Monowai. The vessel, which left Auckland oil Saturday, was unable to land at Gisbo>v.e on Sunday, and made off for Napier. A heavy sea was running there, and a landing was found to be impossible. Consequently she put to sea again-, and in a, wireless message received by the local ofßee of the Union Company last evening from Captain Drewctte, he stated that he would try to effect a landing at Napier at daybreak to-day. -The Monowai is not due here till Wednesday .morning, and meantime she has been fixed to leave for Lyttellon and Dunedin at 3 p.m. on that day.

WOOL SHIPS FOB AMERICA. It is estimated that there are about 100,000 bales of wool offering in New Zealand lor shipment to the United States. 11l addition to steamers which have been fixed to load in these waters by the Union Company, Mr. O.' IT. Scales will have the Bal-m-ire and the Themis loading' next mcnt. It is probable that Mr. Scales will have another steamer loading in January. Tho Federal and Shire Lin® have announced that their chartered steamer Westmeath has been fixed to load in New Zealand for Boston and New York about the third week in December. .At the present timo competition for wool freight is exceptionally keen, and it i's understood that q,t least one other company will enter the market very shortly.

EAST COAST SERVICE CHANGES. Change 3 are announced in the East Coast service. On December 3 the Huddart-Par-ker steamer Westralia will leave Dunedin in place of the Paloona for Lyttelton, Wellington, Napier, Gisborae, and Auckland. The Paloona wall relieve the Tarawera in the service, and the latter vessel will* be laid up at Duncdin.\

MESS-TABLE GOSSIP. • .Mr. 17. Anderson, third engineer of the Ngakuta. has left that vessel.

Mr. W. S. Hyslop, second officer of the Jtararoa, has gone south for orders. Mr. Hastie has filled tho vacancy.

E.M.S. Niagara, which left. Auckland on November 2, arrived at Vancouver at 4 p.m. on Thursday last. She ia scheduled to leave the Canadian port on the return journey to-morrow, and is expected, to arrive at Aucklaud on December 13.

Continuing her journey from Montreal, ■the .Sl!a,w-.Savill steamer Mamari, which is running under tho auspices of the New Zealand Shipping Oompany, left Sydney for Aucklaud on Saturday last. She' should reach the northern port on Thursday nest, and Wellington, about November 29.

Tho steamer Mararoa. which left Wellington on Saturday night for Lyttelton, waa ovidently somewhat buffeted by the heavy seas and severe southerly gale, as gram states that the vessel did not reach th southern port until about 3:30 p.m. on Sunday.

Tho Wanaka was to. have loft Timaru yesterday for Ojiriaru, Bluff, Napier, Gisborne, and Auckland.

The ooastal steamer Wairau went on the Patent Slip yesterday in order to undergo overhaul prior to re-entering the Welling-ton-Blenheim trade.

Advico has been received locally that the steamer Lord Derby, which called at Wellington on October 1 to replenish her bunkers whilst bound for Calcutta, has orrived at Valparaiso. ■ •

The-Government steamer Hinemoa went, out yesterday to pick up a quantity of unused 'material at Karori Bock light. The vessel ifc scheduled to leave 'iport on Thursday on her periodical visit to southern lights.

At, i a.m. on Saturday the Himltangi a-.rived at the Chatham Islands from Wellington. She is loading live stock and wool for .Lyttelton, and will visit Wellington later. , I

The Corinna. is at present at the Bluff. On her way up the coast the vessel will call at other southern ports, being due hero on Friday next. She will leave the same day for Nelson and New Plymouth. It is anticipated that the turret steamer Koromiko will get away for Newcastlo on Friday or Saturday next to load again for Wellington.

From southern ports the Paloona is duo here to-day to land 350 tons of cargo before proceeding on to northern ports. The Japanese steamer Kwanto Haru is expected to arrive here from Lyttelton today to put out over 2GO tons of phosphates. After a long absence, from Wellington the IJnion collier Kaitangata is due irom Westport to-morrow. An expected arrival at Wellington from Eau Francisco direct about December 5 is the Union steamer Wairuna. '

The Karamu is duo here from Suva, early this''morning with a load ,of Island fruit. She will be dispatched for Wostport this evening to load for Oriehunga. Subsequently tho vessel will go 1 back to the West Coast port, where she will piok up a load of coal for Fiji. She will thca bring down another load of fruit for Wellington. The Union Company's Kahilta has been fixed to leave Dunedin on Friday next for Oamaru, Timaru, Lyttelton, Wellington, Napier, and Gisborne. Instead of tho Kittawa leaving Wellington for New Plymouth with general cargo to-day, she will proceed on to Greymouth to-morrow. The Kowhai has been substituted to tak.9 up the Kittawa's run to New Plymouth, and she has been fixed to sail at 3 p.m. to-morrow. At 3 p.m. to-day the coastal steamer Dev fender will he dispatched for Blackball and Hokitika.

The C. land D. liner Star of Scotland, which is 'due here from Napier on Thursday, will bo dispatched for London direot this week-end.

It. is announced that tho A. and A. chartered steamer Walton Hall, which was to have come to Now Zealand ports from New York, will only visit Australia now. .
