PIGEON-RACING
A race was flown on Saturday under the auspices of tho Hutt Valley Homing Pigeon Society, and considering the bad weather the birds encountered, good time was made. The results of the first five lofted were as follow:—Prom Gisborno, estimated air-line 250 miles: England and Hudson's Max, Thr. lOmin. 40sec., 1; W. and L. Booth's Lillian, Thr. 13min., 2; Whitehead and Booth's .Croesus, 7hr. 14min. ISsec., 3; A. and J. Booth's Night Hawk, 7hr. lTmin. 20sec.; W. J. Smith's Redfern, Thr. 33min. 12sec. Tho trophy for first place consists of a pair of young birds, presented by Mr. A. Gorard, of Christchurch. - > .
