CHECKING THE FALL. By Mesraph—Press As6oclation-CopyrtgM (Rec. November 21, 3.80 p.m.) London, November 19._ The "Daily Chronicle" states that in order to cheok the effect of American exchange on our purchases in Amcrica, the Government is taking steps to control American securities held in Britain , Mr. M'Kenna (Chancellor of the Exchequer) and the Governor of t'he Bank of England, have conferred with the leading insurance companies, and a pommittee has been appointed to arrange details. It is understood that the Government is prepared to purchase securities, or obtain the' loan of them, the former holders to receive 5 per cent, five years' treasury bonds, while tho lenders receive the present interest, plus 10s. per cent.
