AVhen recruits enter camp, aaid are allotted a certain hutment,, it is a mistake for them to imagine that it will their domicile during the whole period that they are in camp. A good deal of changing round of men is often necessary ere the various platoons are settled in their quarters. Sometimes a little amusement attaches to the moving of the 30 men and their belongings which each hutment accommodates. One lot of 32 men had been moved several times in a few days. Then, one night, just before "lights out" when all the men were comfortably in bunk, the voice of a camp n.c.o.' was heard. "Well, I'm blowed," a man exclaimed, "I believe he's going to move us on again." . "All you men turn- out," tho n.c.o. ordered. "What's up?" a recruit asked. "There's 32 of you in here, and the hutment only holds 30." "You want two'of us?" "I want tho lot of yer," the n.c.o. retorted. "Come on." Nobody spoke or moved. Threats of C.B! were of no avail. Only loud snores wore evoked. And when "lights out" was sounded, the n.c.o. went away, vowing duo vengeance on the thirty-two. It is practically cortain that the 3rd and 4tli battalions of' tho New Zealand Rifle Corps will leave May Morn Camp for Rangiotu on December 1. The men ''started yesterday with their advanced musketry training, «nd after doing up to the 100 yds. range, will proceed to 'L'rentham each day aiid practice at tho rifle range tlioro, up to 500 yards. The May Moni Camp dried rapidly unvler tlio influence of the sunshine aud wind of tho past two days. On Thursday a few showers fell at tho camp, though tho weather in the City was perfect'. It is understood that "after the rifle batnlions havet lef, May Morn will bo used as a relief camp for mounted, men.
