The commander of a Russian division on the Austrian front has recommended the pensioning of the widow of a priest named Vorcmcliuk and the ennoblement of his oliiklren, beoause of Voremchult's wonderful heroism. Wliou a scouting party was about to be ambushed,- Voremcihuk sailed them across a river in ltis own boat under a heavy fire. lie was shot in tho hip, and on returning after the landing of the soldiers was so weak from loss of blood that- he lost control of the rudder, and drifted down stream, where ho fell into the Austriaiis' hauds. Peasants heard the cries,, and next day found him with his head battered, and his mouth filled ivith clay. The body was covered with gashes, Jiis collarbone was broken, his kneo tendons cut, and thero was evidence till at he had been tortured. . His body was riddled by bullets.
