A deputation from the dockers waited on the Central Board and .-esented the liquor restrictions. They declared that stimulants were essentia). Mr. Ben 'Mott, secretary of the Daok, 'Wharf. Riverside, and General Workers' Union of Great Britain, said that Parliament's temperance' record did not compare .with, that of tlie dockers. The chairman of the board promised the establishment of essential oanteens. Mr. Philip Snowdon (Socialist M.P.), speaking at Sheffield, said the prohibition of treating in London had reduced takings from 15 to 25 per cent., and the number of convictions for drunken.uess had declined.
