The movement organised by the Associated Amateur Sports Bodies to obtain a fund to provide tobacco and sweets for every soldier of the Allies at Gallipoli and at Samoa, .will culminate to-moii-Fow, when the .people will be asked to subscribe £1000, which is the amount estimated to bo. required for-t'he purpose. -Saturday is .Gallipoli Day, and Wellington .will again cheerfully respond to the call for funds. . liio gifts will be made up in hermetically sealed tins, which will be embossed with suitable greetings. The sports bodies have made excellent arrangements with reputable Home firms, and every man will receive sufficient tobacco to make 120. cigarettes and about 4oz. of chocolate and barley sugar. The delivery will be guaranteed. at Gallipoli, and tho Y.M.C.A. has offered to see that the gifts are delivered.
There will be a sale of button-holes and badges in the streets. Arrangements have been made for about twelve stalls,; which will be wider the charge oMadies and their assistants. The ladies will be provided with "numbered boxes labelled "Amateur Sports, Christmas Shilling Gift Fund," and a strict check will be kept on every box that goes ' out and comeß in. The badges will consist of gilt and silver nr?°ii' ° f Ncw Zealand embossed Gallipoli, Ake Ake," and to them will be attached a silk ribbon on which the King's head and the national colours are stamped. 'Die brooches are from the registered design of the Commercial •Travellers Association. An effort made by the commercial travellers a few weeks ago. resulted in the sale of 1000 (f»f these badges in less than two hours. In addition to the flower stalls, and to P m , ay , be stated tlia-t Mr. T. Waugh, of the Hutt nurseries is sending 1000 roses there will be a l ar d er stall opposite the Government; Build--mgs, and here home-made meat and mmce pies, sausage rolls, cakes, tarts and many other delicacies will be oil sale. A produce stall will be under the management of Mrs. J; ]?. Luke Mrs fenlmond, Mrs. Seville, and others. Vegefcables, fruit,jam, cheese,. butter etc., .will be obtainable. '

The stalls will bo open from 8.30 a.m to 6 p.m. Those in charge of the stalls Who want anything on Saturday are requested to communicate with tho secretary, who will be at the Town Hall (Telephone 65).
For the afternoon a, carnival has been arranged at the Basin Reserve. Tho programme wjll contain a number of spectacular events that will b 0 To ]j worth seeing. There will be ballet dances, Highland dancing, fancy dress competition, physical drill and gymnastic displays, harriers' races,, "house" teams races, blindfold boxing, ladies' hockey match, hat-trimming and hairdressing competitions for wounded soldiers, etc. A putting competition has been arranged by Mrs. W. A. Atkinson and the ladies of the Karoli Golf Olub This will take place on one of the best parts of th© grounds, viz., the southwest corner. The prizo will be a silvermounted puttej- suitably Inscribed. There will also be a number of interesting sideshows. An' afternoon tea tent will be on the grounds under 'tJhe charge of Mrs. P. Townsend, a sweets stall under Miss Mam's and Miss Lcvestam, an ice cream stall under Mrs. Robinson and Mrs.. Atkinson and the lady members of tho Karori Golf Club,

The treasurer of tho Associated Amateur Sports received £5 lis. Bd. from Mr. A. Walker .yesterday, this amount being the proceeds collected on board the s.s. Mararoa on a trip to Lvttelton last week during- an entertainment eiven bv Mr. H. Brooks, of the Fullers' Vaudeville Circuity Donations of produce, have been received from Messrs. Wry and Co., G.
