SOUTH AUCKLAND SYNOD
By Telegraph—Press Association. Thames, November IS. Tho South Auckland District Methodist Synod closed to-day. Resolutions wore carried protesting against raising money for patriotic purposes by methods that foster the gambling spirit, also protesting against lotteries, and suggesting as an alternative that the Government should introduce direct taxation to meet the oxtraordinary war expenditure.
