SENSATIONAL INCIDENT IN THE BALTIC
SWEDISH AND GERM4.N WARSHIPS CLEAR FOR ACTION. Bj Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright London, November 17. Renter's Copenhagen correspondent records a sensational incident. The British steamer Tlielma (1002 tons) left Trelleborg (15 miles south-cast of Malmo) for Gothenburg. A German destroyer in the vicinity of Landskrona (16 miles north-north-east of Copenhagen) chased her into Swedish territorial waters.
The Swedish torpedo-boat Pollux approached as the Germans were boarding the Tlielma, and forcing them to return to tlie destroyer, ran between the two vessels. The commander informed the Germans that lie would use any means necessary to prevent the steamer's capture. Both warships cleared for action, and lay for some minutes opposite each other in ominous silence, when the German destroyer suddenly withdrew, leaving the Swedes in possession of the
