MAGISTRATE'S COURT
A LIGHT DAY. There were very few cases for hearing oil tho Magistrate's Court list yesterday morning, wlien the Bench was occupied by Mr. W. G. Riddell, S.M. Edward Thomas Hughes, alias Saule, alias Wilson, pleaded guilty to two charges of forgery and uttering, and was committed to tho Supromo Court for sentence., Tho accused liad uttered one cheque for £7 ss. on November 1, and another for £7 on November 5. Both cheques were returned by the bank. John Dobson, who did not appear to answer a charge of drunkenness, was fined 205., the alternative beino- 48 hours' imprisonment,. Charles Ingram and John Anderson, also charged witli drunkenness, were fined 10s. each, in default to undergo 48 hours' imprisonment. Three firstoffending inebriates were also dealt with.
