HOSPITAL STAFF MAN'S LETTER. The following letter has just been received by Mr. J. D. Cruickshank, AVellington, in answer to one sent to a New Zealand soldier who had not received a letter. "Your extremely kind note of August 19 reached mo a'few days Ago. How highly delighted I was at receiving same, for I had not had a mail for a week or two previous. I am (no of the staff of the above hospital, so I sincerely liopo that you aro not displeased at your epistle not reaching the hands of a, wounded soldier. Owing to timo being at a premium, I am awfully sorry that I shall be unable to send you _ a lengthy reply. However, I will writo lo you again very shortly. We aro in a hospital constituted of marquees, which aro situated on the sands right next to tho sea. At tlie present time wo are accommodating somewhere near 5000 patients, sick and wounded. Tlie majority of cases coming in just now aro enteric, dysentery, and diarrhoea. Though the climate is very sultry, etc., wonderful results aro attained here. Before coming to Port Said I was lucky enough to bo ono of forty out of eighty to be selected to go to Cairo for three weeks. Whilst there I spent a very enjoyablo time, and saw some world renowned places, such as mosques, tho Citadel, and inoro especially tho famous Pyramids and Sphinx. I trust to hoar of good work being dono by tho new Ministry. I am sure that the composition will work very well together. Hoping to hear from' you again very soon.— Yours faithfully, "(Signed) R.
