MASTERTON NOTES.
Over two hundred men will leave Masterton this morning for the Trentham Camp. _ Recruiting has been more animated in the Wairarapa during the past month than during any period since the outbreak' of war. Mr. D. It. Storey, of Palmerston Nortii, a former member of the Police Force, has been appointed ranger to the Masterton Comity Council. At a meeting of the Wairara.pa branch of the Teachers' Institute on Saturday it was decided to establish "discussion centres" in the district, in order to carry out Mr. J. Caughloy's scheme for the detailed consideration of matters pertaining to education.. The Masterton Bowline Club defeated Greytown on Saturday last in a shield match. , Tlie Masterton Homing Club flew a race from Dunedin on Saturday. f The first bird home was Messrs. Drakp Bros.' Silver Queen, which did the distance in the smart time of 13hr. smin. A Queen of the Carnival competition in aid of the Wounded Soldiers' Fund is being organised by the Friendly Societies of Masterton.
