SWEDEN PRO-GERMAN

SMALL PRO-ALLIES MINORITY

AMERICAN CORRESPONDENT'S

-IMPRESSION

By Telegraph—Press Association-Copyright ("Times" and Sydney "Sun' 1 Services.)

London, November 12. Mr: Stanley Washburn, the . American war" correspondent in Russia, states that Sweden is pro-German, because a ceaseless enemy propaganda has dominated the principal channels of publicity. The Court and the military party are undoubtedly pro-German. The Germans are playing on Sweden's traditional terror'of Russia, and'no efforts of the Allies will alter opinion in favour of Britain, because of tho restrictions on Swedish trade.

The Socialist Party is openly proAllies, but is not sufficiently strong to dominate the policy of the country or exercise a restraining influence to prevent tho jeopardisation of neutrality. Swedes-do not think that German successes, .'which are regarded as extraordinary, are likely to shorten the war.

; EXPORT BAN ON BUTTER. .-•;•' Stookholm, November 12. '.-Sweden has prohibited the exportation of. butter. ~
