WELLINGTON COLLEGE SPORTS

SOME GOOD PERFORMANCES

FfiICIICiL PATRIOTISM

' Very fine weather favoured the annual athletic sports of the Wellington Boys' College, held on the Collego Ground, yesterday. The ground was in perfect inning trim, and with the large entries usual with the school's gathering, and the fitness of tho runners, a good afternoon's sport was inevitable. Two school records were broken during tho day—L. H. Welsh in the long jump beating a previous rocord—P. K. Bryan's—of 20ft. 3in. by ljin., and in the 120 yards hurdles championship the same competitor lowered the record by 1-oth of a second—doing the distance in 16sec. As was the'case last year, the boys decided to forego their psizes in cider tliait the money should go to tho Patriotic Fund.
