BRITAIN'S MASTERY OF THE AIR
A TOUR OF THE AERODROMES. By Telegraph—Press Association—Cosyr'eht ("Times" and Sydney "Sun" Services.) (Rec. November 11, 6.5 p.m.) London, November 10. A unique series of visits to the Empire's war wonders which has been arranged for leading Dominion, Allied, anil neutral journalists has done excellent service in securing neutral Press support. Last week they visited the aerodromes and aircraft factories, and saw astonishing activity. They had an opportunity of estimating the fin 6 results of the work of the Royal Flying Corps. Nearly a srore of aerodromes were busy training pilots and observers, and there wero also aircraft stations filled with all kinds of machines, ready for anything. More stations are being 1 established by the War Office ans Admiralty, which have practically taken over the motor industry. • Tho output of aeroplanes is immense. It lias increased seven-fold sincc the beginning of the war, and will soon have doubled that- again. In the last four months the output has quadrupled. The machines are of all sorts and sizes, every model being better than the last. The problem of stability has been solved, and tho perfection of the machines has given us an undoubted mastery of the air. Some of the fighting machines are capable of doing 135 miles an hour, while the ordinary models can do 99. We have air-Dreadnoughts and double, ended battle-planes, and are experimenting with othors. The Navy has separata shops, anil is now experimenting with super-seaplanes, armed and armoured, and carrying many passengers. The new German armoured aeroplane which has been seen on the Russian front is fitted with two propellers, two Maxims, wireless apparatus, and is of 350 horeo.powor.
