$ SUMMARY AND FORECAST Present indications arc for strong eoufcli* , -westerly winds, veering to northwesterlies shortly; equally and changeable weather, with heavy passing showers, in many parts of the country; but a brief temporary improvement may be expected soon. Barometer rising slowly for a short time, but a further fall is likely to follow soon. "West to south-west winds etronj* to pale have ruled. Wet and stormy weather has prevailed, especially on the West Coast of both islands, and snow has fallen on somo of the higher levels. Atmospheric pressure has increased everywhere. D. C. BATES.
