MORAL AND PHYSICAL HEALTH SOCIETY
THE ANNUAL MEETING. Tho annual meeting of the New Zealand Moral and Physical Health Society was hold last evening. Tho fifth annual report stated that during tho year the society had taken every opportunity of upholding the principles for which it stands. At tho annual mooting in October, 1914,_ a resolution was carried protesting against tho failure of tho Legislative Council to reduce the hours of women workers in woollen mills from 48 to 45, tho statutory number in all other industries. During the session of Parliament just concluded that reduction was made. The society is proposing to organise a scheme in conjunction with the W.C.T.U. for attendance of lady visitors at tho Magistrate's Court to watch cases in wliidi women and children are involved. During the coming year it was proposed to continue the monthly meetings, beginning in February, and to hold them at the accustomed times and places. It is hoped to have the assistance of speakers on a- variety of subjects related to tho objects of the society. Tlie election of officers resulted as follows President, Dr. Edith Huntley; vice-presidents, Lady Stout, Dr. Von Danville, Mesdames Osborn, A. R. Atkinson, Mac Vicar, Ferryman; secretary, Sirs. Richardson; treasurer, Mrs. Holder; council, Mesdames Donaldson, Watt, Chittenden, Edmandsen, Spearman, Bennett, Probyn, Griffiths, and Miss Margaret Shaw. Hie society passed a resolution expressing regret at the resignation of Dr. Platte-Mills, president, who, it was stated, had accomplished muoli good work for the society, and a vote of thanks was passed to Miss Newman for her good services.
