HUTT BOROUGH
1 MEETING OF THE COUNCIL, There were present at last evening's meeting of tho Hutt Borough Council the Mayor (Mr. 11. Baldwin) and Councillors Hodgins, Brassel, Carver, Meldrum, Clendon, M'Dougall, and Hobbs. Tho borough solicitor advised that the old cricket pavilion 011 0110 of the Martin Estate roads is the property of tho council, and reported that the dedication of land in Victoria Street by the Education Board, and Messrs. Dwau Bros, had been completed, and tho strips of land were now vosted in the council. , It was decided that tho amount of £19 18s. 3d., being the Lower Hutt's portion of the maintenance of the Hutt Road, should be paid. In respect to an account for the removal of certain telegraph poles, it was resolved to refer tho matter to the borough solicitor. Tho Petone Council wrote stating that it could not extend to gas consumers at Lower Hutt the same privileges as aro granted to consumers at Petone, ill tho mattor of supplying gas eookors, etc., 011 deferred payment terms. It was decided to refer the matter to the Gas Committee. Tho report from the pumping station gave rise to some discussion, as it was stated in the report that some of the present plant was liable to give out at any time. The Mayor stated that further information 011 tho matter should bo obtained, and the report was referred to the Water Works. Committee. The report of the borough engineer was also submitted, and was of a "satisfactory character.
