FEDERAL GOVERNMENT'S ACTION. By Wejtrftph—Press ABaoclation-CopyriEM (Rec. November 7, 5.5 p.m.) Melbourne, November 6. Mr. Pearce, Federal Defence Minister,states that the Federal Government is informing the States Munition Committees that all shells producible would be urgently required! for at least eight months to come.

If certain firms confine themselves to private work the Government will consider the advisability of taking control of the works or limiting the profits produced by private work. The State Committees are required to investigate and report to the Federal Committee any firms not manufacturing munitions which are oapable of doing so. Men capable of munition work will not be allowed to enlist, and those who have enlisted will be replaced at munition work.
