GERMAN ATTACKS'COLLAPSE By IVlegraph—Prc36 Association—Copyright Petrograd, -November 5. A communique states: We repulsed an enemy offensive in tlie Schlock region. The enemy unsuccessfully attempted to cross the Dvina below Dvinsk. We progrossed to the outskirts of ?llukst. Several German attacks southward of Lake Sventen coir lapsed with enormous losses. Forest fighting westward of Ohartorusk resulted in the Germans leaving the ground strewn with corpses. A GERMAN REPORT. (Reo. November 7, 3.35 p.m.) Amsterdam, November 6. A Berlin commuuiijue says: Despite their_ extraordinarily high losses the Russians continue to make unsuccessful attacks between the Sventou and Islen Lakes. A THOUSAND KILLED. (Rec. November 7, 3.30 p.m.) Petrograd, November 6. A Russian communique shows the failure of the German attacks, near Dvinsk. The enemy left a thousand dead. i We repelled attacks in the southern theatre. x AUBTRIAN CLAIMS. (Rec. November 7, 11 p.m.) Amsterdam, November 6. An Austrian communique states: "We completely repulsed the Russians from Semikowce and the west' bank of the Strypa, and captured 2000 prisoners." PRISONERS CAPTURED. BY THE RUSSIANS. (Reo. November 7, 11.0 p.m.) Petrograd, November 6. • "We captured 734 men and two guns' westward of Rafalovka, on the Styr; also 8500 at Sezkovtze." AUSTRO-CERMAN LOSSES. (Rec. November 7, 3.50 p.m.) Berne, November G. Since November 1 twenty thousand Austro-Germans have been made prisoner in the Strypa region, and fourteen cannon were captured. GERMAN POSITIONS SHELLED. BY RUSSIAN WARSHIPS. (Rec. November 7, 11 p.m.) Petrograd, Novenibor 6. Russian sfyips opened fire against the German positions near Sehlok, west of Riga. SEVERE PUNISHMENT. FOR A RUSSIAN GENERAL. Petrograd, November 5.
