FROM THE "SEVENTHS"

AT SEA. Writing at sea under date October 17 a member of the Seventh Reinforcomeuts writes: "I am as fit as I could wish and have not missed a meal, and don't intend to unless I am locked out. You seem to be able to eat all day, and then be ready for every meal. The food is decent, plenty of it and lots of variety.. Our quarters are as good as any on the ship. We have the fore-

deck for our parado deck, and when we nm into hot weather it will be the coolest place on the ship. 'We saw land on the fourth day for a few hours andthoy say we will be another five or six days at sea before wo reach our first port of call. On Saturday night wo had a concert, and it was quite a success. We unearthed a lot of talent,

including the chaplain, who gave us a couple of good items. This morning wo only had to do church parade and as we had the "Trent's" Band it was all Tifiht. The colonel of the "TTents" read the sormon. Every evening the

band plays for the officers' mess, and also on deck on Sunday afternoon. Tho Patriotic Committee put some fruit on board for us and we had it to-day.

. •. . We run a canteen on board. You have- to buy a ticket costing 3s. Tliis lias twopenny squares on it, and ai you buy they punch the value off, which saves giving change. The prico of everything is posted outside, and everything is very reasonably priced."
