Colonel Shumsky, the Russian military critic, says: "A strategic calm prevails along tho entire Russian front. The enemy is preparing for tho winter with elaborate trenches, filled with stores; the railways and roads are being repaired, and bridges are being built. A ronewal of their, strategic aggressive is not expected before the spring, and there is no longer any danger to Riga or Dvinsk."

A communique states: "The enemy attacked the village of Semikovitze, on tho Strypa. Our counter-attack was a complete success. All troops of the enemy who penetrated our front, numbering five thousand, were taken prisoner."
