Luke) announced yesterday that the Red Cross appeal inaugurated in Wellington at the request of His Excellency the Governor, in response to a letter from Lord Lansdowne, bad been closed. The sum realised for this ■ important work in Wellington city and district aomunted to the creditable total of £1505 4s 63., which will be handed to Lord Liverpool for transmission to- England.
