MEETING OF THE COUNCIL.

■At last night's: meeting; of the Onslow Borough Council, tho Mayor (Mr, C. C., Crump) presided, and there were also present: Messrs. J. C. Gardiner, A. W. C. Palmer, L. A. Browne, 0. Bowden, W. Appleton, A. E. Budd, and J. M-. Dale. . ' \ •; -•

-.: In connection with the eight acres of Crown land rented by Mr. J. Hill for grazing purposes at Kaiwarra, the Tate colleotor was authorised to assess the property on freehold value, £895 in all. The Mayor said that the grazing rights were rated at £200 only but Mr, HiHhad>vcontracted'to pay the rates, and if they rated him on-£2OO only, jthey. could,go to no one else for the rate's-on the remaining. £695. If •Mr. Hill: had ;• any,. grievance -in ihe matter, it was, against the Government and not against the council.-

•The Special' Committee which had been, set up to consider the question of installing a sanitary -. service in the borough,_ recommended': "That tho council give tho committee directions to wait on the Public Health Committee of the City Council with reference to the pending .agreement re drainage 'pipe, and also re the use of the septio tank for'vthe disposal of sewage."' Budd moved -that the recommendation bo agreed to, and, after brief discussion, the motion was carried.

, Permission was given to Mr. S. Hodgson to open outwards tie doors of the' proposed motor-shed on Izard Road.

A was ; received • from the Catholic Federation in regard to the censorship of kineniatograph films, and it was decided that Councillor Browne >hould represent the council at a conference to be held_ on December 1 to consider the question.' Several councillors expressed the opinion that a censorship was a very UecessaTy thing, as many of the pictures shown in New Zealand theatres were not fit to be seen by children.
