WAR EGGS
In England recently was celebrated a million egg week," instituted by tlio National Egg Collection for the Wounded, to celebrate the fact that Queen Alexandra has become the patroness of the collection. Since November 8,000,000 eggs had been collected. Of these, 107,000 were dispatched weekly to British base hospitals in France, and from 300,000 to 400,000 were sent each week to wounded in English hospitals. The War Office supplied about £1500 worth of egg boxes, which were incessantly on the move between London and the numerous collecting depots. . Tile packing department at the central Tendon depot (Llarrods, Ltd., Trevor Square), was a wonderful sight. Somo of the girls can pack about 8000 eggs a day. There are 1200 collecting depots throughout the country and 50,000 collectors, including boy scouts, the Church Lads' Brigade, and tho Salvation Arihy.
