Tho land and income tax papers which are being issued during • the present week contain tho following notice as an insertion:— "Ten per cent, additional tax is chargeable on all tax not paid within fourteen days of tho duo date shown on the demand. Should the tax not be paid within two months after that date, tho additional percentage will be 11 per cent.; if three months after, 12 per cent; if four months after, 13 per cent., and so on. Taxpayers are again reminded that, the obligation to pay is not suspended by any objection they may make to the assessment. If they desire to avoid the additional percentage they should ni>t run the risk by deferring payment in expectation of receiving an amended demand before the last day for payment has expired, but should pay the original demand, and claim a refund."-
