CRIMINALS SENTENCED ffiy Telegraph.—Pre.s Chrlstohurch, November 1. The Supreme Court'-criminal sittings opened to-day. The following sentences were imposed:—J. M. Byrne, for illegally opening a letter, eighteen months; M. Shevvan, for breaking and entering and theft, twelve months; Jessie M'Ewan, theft from the person, eighteen monl'lis; Bertram Neale.y, indecently assaulting a six-year-old child, five years; IV. M.' Allen', assaulting a constable, si:: months; Patrick Gunn, theft and escaping from custody, eighteen months and three months.
