The eighteenth annual meeting of the Society for the Protection of Women and Children (Wellington _ branch) will take place this evening, in the No. 1 Committee Room. Town Hall. The Hon. J G. W. Aitken will preside, and Dr. Margaret M'Cahon, the Rev. Dr. Kennedy Elliott, and Mr. W. Allan will speak._ This society has dono excellent work in the past, and has been most helpful to many women and children in distress. It is hoped that there will bo a large attendance of members and friends to show interest and to help this useful society.
