The Shaw-Savill liner Rangatira will arrive from London, via Auckland, this morning, and will commence discharging at the King's Wharf. A notice to consignees appeal's in another part of this issue. R.M.S. lONIC REPORTED. The head office of the Shaw, Savill, and Albion Co. has ben advised that R.M.S. lonic arrived at Cape Town on October £8, The liner left here, on Scpt-mbcr 17 for London, via Australian ports and Durban, and is due at her destination about November 14. THIS WEEK'S SYDNEY BOAT. The direct boat from Sydney this week— the Moeraki—did not clear the New South Walc3 port till 6 p.m. on Friday. Consequently she will not arrive here till tomorrow afternoon—a day late. The vessel has 1698 tons of cargo (including «, quantity of fruit) on board for here, as well as 102 saloon end 128 steerage passengers. MESS-TABLE GOSSIP. Mr. 11. Brown, late third officer of the Victoria, has been appointed a sub-lieuten-ant in the Navy, and is now undergoing a course of torpedo instruction in England. Mr. L. Gilray, late fourth engineer of the Waitomo, is at present awaiting instructions at Dunedin. Captain Carey, of the Mapourika, will, it is understood, take charge of the Patcena on Wednesday. Tie New Zealand Shipping Company's Whakatane, Homeward bound, was to havo left Fremantle for London, via Durban on Saturday. Australian files to hand j-esterday announce that -the New Zealand Shipping Company's Paparoa left Liverpool on Octcber 20 for Melbourne, Sydney, and Now Zealand ports The C. and D. liner Star of Scotland, which is due here about November 8, arrived at Auckland from London, via Australian ports, on Saturday afternoon. Several hours earlier than was expected the lfuddart-Parker steamer Witnmera arrived from Melbourne direct yesterday morning. . Exceptionally fine weather was experienced on the run across. The Wimmer.% has brought. 1971 tons of cargo, 658 of which is for Wellington, 573 for Lyttelton. 549 for Dunedin, and 191 for the Bluff. Transhipments ex tho following vessels have also been brought to hand:—Koonya, Zealandia, Medina, Loongana. Dinboola, Katoomba, and Indianic. R.M.S. Niagara is expected to arrive at Auckland from Sydney this morning. She ■ will continue her journey to Vancouver, via Suva and Honolulu, at 10 a.m. tomorrow. The Marama (from San Francisco) is due here on Thursday next. Departure wil bo taken for Sydney the following day. It will bo Wednesday before the Turakina will arrive from the south. Departure will be taken for Auckland on November 6. and the latter port will bo cleared for Home on November 10. Tho Amokura will leave the Bluff to-day for the outlying southern islands In search of castawxys. She should -return to Port Chalmers in three or four weeks' time. After having been delayed for several days on account of the shortage of trucks, the Kamo and Ngahere for Greymouth, and the Komata for Westnort, got away on Saturaay. The Orari, which is due here from Liverpool, via Auckland, oil November 9, has 3200 tons of cargo on board for tl;if> port. Tho Tofua was docked at Port' Chalmers on Wednesday, and lier crew has been paid off. On Wednesday last the Kaitangata left Melbourne for Soutlv Australian .ports, where she will load salt, etc., for A T ew Zealand. _ _ On Saturday morning the Bimitangi left for the Chatham Islands,' via Lytteltou. Sho will probaby arrive back h(tre, with a load of fish about- tho middle of this month. When discharge of her Greymouth timber U completed the Kaiapol will go on to Newcastle from Sydney to load for New Plymouth and Picton. On arrival from Nelson nnd ricton tomorrow evening the Mapourika will withdraw for ov-iKiril. and she will be relieved by l.h* i'atcena. Saturday was the last occasio;i on which tho West Coast boat will leave here on that- day. In future the Arahura will sail for Picton, Nelson, and West Coast, ports on Mondays at 12.45 p.m. The Pateena will go to Nelson.direct at 9 p.m. on Mondays. As the coastal steamer Wootton lias been bar-bound at Kaiapol she is not oxpeeled here before to-morrow to load for Nyifia Bay and Lyttelton.
