MUNICIPAL GOLF LINKS
TO BE OPENED TO-DAY. In tho encouragement of. out-door exercises no ono is able to say that the Wellington.' City .Corporation_lags •' behind. Not only have we municipal tennis courts (at Day's Bay), municipal football, cricket, and hockey grounds,' in fair supply, municipal' bathing beaohes at Lyall, Island, and Day's Bays, and municipal, baths, but we liavo portions of the Town Bolt leased to tennis and bowling clubs, and now we liavo municipal golf links._ This latest acquisition is favourably situated along tlie lower ridges of the liill immediately to the west of Berliamporo, within easy walking distance of Newtown, Brooklyn, and Vogeltown, and within the reach of everyone by tram. The links are entered from Brittomart Street —two or three minutes' walk from the junction of Adelaide Road and Luxford Street. The links have their ups and downs, with here and thereia steeper gully to negotiate, but they have a nice niat of grass, anil from all points a splendid vista, of Island Bay with Cook Strait beyond can be gained, so that the location is healthy and picturesque. Tho new links will bs declared open formally by tho Mayor (Mr. J. P. Luke) at 2 p.m. to-day, and immediately afterwards an 18-holo (twice round) match will be played between the professional golfers, Messrs. Douglas and Watts.
