'An expression of regret at the death of Dr. W. G. Grace has been forwarded to tho secretary of the Marylebone Cricket Club by Sir Cecil Moon, chairman of the New Zealand Cricket Council. • Mr. R. S. Allwright, the well-known Wellington singer, has enlisted, and went into camp on Thursday last. Lieutenant-Colonel Boddam, of the sth G'liui'Ua Regiment, who was wounded at tho Dardanelles, has recovered from his injuries and! resumed duty. Ho has been promoted colonel, and is now in command of the Territorial Division in tho Canterbury (Kent) district, England. Colonel Boddam is a brother of Chief-Detective !Boddam, Wellington. Corporal Batten, of Wellington, who went to the front with the Main Expeditionary Force, returned by tho Tofua. He is a member of the Amateur Operatic Society, and played a part in tho last "production .hero of -"The Geisha."
Mr. aJid Mrs. P. W. Reardon, of Mastorton, leavo New "Zealand next montli on a. trip to the Old Country. They will make the -Home voyage by the Malwa, leaving Sydney on November 27. Mrs. F. W. Kemp, of Wellington, will sail for England by tho same steamer.

It has been unofficially. reported that Lieutenant R. H. Deck, of Motueka, Nelson, returned to Neiv Zealand by the Tofua. this week. Tlie Defence' Department announce that the report is incorrect, as the officer mentioned was killed in action on August 29 last. It was Surgeon-Captain Deck, of the New Zealand Medical Corps, who returned. At last evening's meeting of the Technical Education Board it was decided, on tie motion of tho Hon. J. G.. W. Aitken, to forward a letter of sympathy to Mr. A. B. Caddick, one of the school's instructors, on the death of his father. A motion was also passed congratulating the chairman of the hoard on his recovery from his recent illness.
At the annual meeting of tho New Zealand Tennis' Association last evening great regret was expressed at 'the death of Anthony F. Wilding, who was killed in France while on activo service. The association proposes to erect a memorial,to "the Dominion's greatest player."-
By the last English mail word was received of tho death in London of Mr. Frank D. Passmore. In the '70s tho
lato Mr. Passmore was one of the most prominent figures in New Zealand. Mr. Passmore, who was 70 years of age, was engaged in England to como out to New Zealand to take control of tho constructed railways in the North Island, which at the time were being handed over by the contractors. It was ho who introduced the method of k ee P" ing railway accounts, which furnished the basis of tho more elaborate system of later years. Subsequently he took charge of the Rakaia, railway system. Iteturning to England he resumed the practice of his profession as consulting engineer.
