A recruiting rally organised by tho Wairarapa Patriotic Society was held at Grcytown on Monday ' evening, the Mayor (Mr. D. I'. Loasby) presiding. The Hon. Sir Walter Buchanan, who was tho first speaker, recalled the bravery of tho Maoris and New Zealanders in the early days, and said their descendants had upheld the honour of New Zealand. lie pointed out tho necessity of sending reinforcements to rolieve those now at tho front. Ho expressed the hope that Wairarapa would put up a record in recruits equal to the record thoy had established in to different .war fjwds.
