'Ail unpleasant incident ocourred on Monday in connection with the Auckland Labour_ Da/ procession, three bands declining to take part in the march to the Domain, '(says the "New Zealand Herald"). , The membens of the Trades Union Band had accopted the offer of the Tramways Company of the use of the latter's freight-oar for their conveyance to the .sports ground. The members of the Onehunga, City, aJid Temperance Guards Bands objected, alleging that .the members of the Trades Union Band were receiving monetary assistance for playing during the day, and were, also provided with an electric' car to ride in, while tho objectors were asked to march nearly two miles to the Domain. Tho opinion of the members of the three bands named was that tho Trades Union Band "should have set an example by marching in the load of an organisation whose name they have adopted." Taking exception, therefore, t<> what they considered to bo differential treatment, the three bands referred to refused to participate in the procession, about 80 bandsmen being involved in the decision. Mr. A. E. M. Rowlands, jeweller and optician, inserts an announcement on the amusement page of this issue to the effect that he is opening a store of specially imported and up-to-date English jewellery at 90 Manners Street .
