MONOWAI RUNNING LATE. ' On account of having to wait at Dunedin for the Willochras.-wounded soldiers the departure of the Monovvai has been postponed from to-day till Sunday. She is due hero on Tuesday, and will sail the name day for northern ports.

MESS-TABLE GOSSIP. Captain C. Thompson has recommissioned the Himitangi at Wellington, and has the following officers associated with him:— Chief, Air. 0. Croucher (late Cygnet); second, Mr. W. M'Kiunon (lute Awahou); chief engineer, Mr. J. 8. Melville (late Alexander); second, Mr. IV. M'Keegau (lato Kapuni). Mr. J. White is steward. Mr. a. J. Brown, late assistant purser of the Tarawera, has transferred to the ' Mokola in a similar capacity. The Ulimaroa will berth at the Queen's WliaTf No. 6 this morning, and -will be l despatched for Sydney at noon to-day. The Karu, which is due here to-day from Greymouth ivill land 118,000 feet of timber. ' . A shortage of trucks is still delaying the colliers IComata, Kano, and Poherua. From Wellington the Karamu will be sent on to Fiji. The axiliary scow Magic, which was recently purchased by Captain G. Dunn, is due at Wellington from Napier to-day. She will be utilised for bringing shipments of stone from Sandy Bay for the construction of Parliament Buildings. About 160 tons of southern cargo will be lauded at Wellington by the Corinna today beforo the vessel proceed 6 on to New Plymouth to load dairy produce for transhipment to the Turakina for London. It was announced yesterday that the Hmddart-Parker steamer Wimmera would leavo Wellington for the eouth, Hobait, and Melbourne on Tuesday next. This statement was incorrect, as the vessel is now scheduled to sail on Monday, November 1. ' i About 1900 tons of caigo will bo landed at- Auckland from London by the Star of Scotland beforo 6hc visits Napier and Wellington. In continuation of her journey from Liverpool to Wellington the F. and S. chartered steamer Orari left Sydney yesterday morning. Before coming on to Wellington, on November 8, the vessel will call at Auckland. The mail steamer Hemuera, which cleared London on October 8 for this port, is bringing 409 passengers and 9000 tons of cargo 'for all New Zealand ports. As overhaul to the Pateena will not bo completed in timo the vessel will not reenter the Wellington-Picton.-Nelson running till Wednesday nest. The Mapourika, winch will leave here to-day for Picton and Neleon, will make another trip on Monday. The Kaikoura, which is at present puttine out Home cargo at Port Chalmers, will proceed thenc» on Novemher 4 for Tnkoiraru Bay, Gisborne, Napier, and Wellington. To-morrow the Turakma will leave Dunedin for Lyttelton, Wellington, and Auckland. The schooner Kachael Cohen ling been docked at Port Chalmers for sighting, and will probably Tequiro to havei some of her j seams recaulkcd.
